The third graders have begun a geography
project during which they will create globes of imaginary planets using pumpkins.
At this early stage they are learning to find and
identify the continents on globes of the earth, and they are adding continents
to their pumpkin globes.
Some of them are also identifying oceans on globes of the
earth. (Did you know that the earth is now considered to have five
oceans?) The students will decide which areas of their pumpkin globes could be considered
oceans, and give their oceans names when we meet for the next class.
