These students are learning to use their atlases.  They are learning about the various maps (political, land cover, elevation, and thematic) in their atlases.  And they are learning to use legends, keys, and symbols to identify the features and characteristics of the places shown on the maps in their atlases.  This activity builds upon a Pumpkin Planets lesson.  Scroll down to view more pictures.
