Our study of
geography
encompasses important features
shown on globes and maps, cardinal and intermediate directions, latitude and
longitude, map scales, map legends and symbols, time zones, and regions and
major landforms of the United States. A major part of this geography unit
is a hands-on project (i.e., Pumpkin Planets) in which
the students work with partners to create globes of imaginary planets.
Learning to use
an atlas as a reference tool to obtain information is an important emphasis.
