We began a short unit on sound today.  These students made some interesting discoveries about the dynamics of sound.   Tuning forks helped them learn that sound waves are created when matter vibrates and that the strength of the vibrations causes the volume to be loud or soft.  And we used a sound-level meter to measure the strength of sound waves (or the loudness of sound).  We also went outside and explored sound with "big ears".
